HE IS RISEN – Now What? Mark 16:1-8

Resurrection Sunday is not just a tradition—it’s about an empty tomb.

And that raises a question we all have to answer:

What are you going to do with Jesus?

In Mark 16, the first people to visit the tomb weren’t expecting a miracle. They were expecting a body. They came with spices to anoint Him—because they believed He was still dead.

They didn’t come in faith.
They came in grief.

But when they arrived, the stone had already been rolled away.

While they were asking, “Who will move the stone?”—God had already done it.

And that’s often how God works. He’s already at work before we even realize it.

Inside the tomb, an angel makes the announcement that changes everything:

“He is risen. He is not here.”

Not resuscitated.
Not revived.
Not remembered.

Risen.

The resurrection is not just a detail of Christianity—it is the defining truth. No one really disputes that Jesus died. The real question is: did He rise?

Because if He did… everything changes.

It means the cross worked.
It means sin was paid for.
It means death is defeated.

And it means you cannot stay neutral.

The angel told the women to go tell the disciples—and Peter.

Why Peter?

Because Peter had failed. Publicly. Painfully.

And that’s the message of the resurrection: failure is not final.

Romans 5:8 says:

“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

No one is beyond His grace.

So here’s the question:

What will you do with Jesus?

You can admire Him.
You can ignore Him.
Or you can receive Him.

But not choosing… is still a choice.

Because the tomb is empty.
Jesus is alive.

And that demands a response.
