Medina Community Church is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity that is governed according to the Biblical principles in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. The Board of Elders fills the role of shepherds to oversee the body and protect against false doctrine. The deacons are the hands and feet of the church and use their spiritual gifts in all areas of the church to serve the community.
Pastor
I have been blessed to serve as the lead pastor since 2003. I have been married to Anna for 30 years, and we have three adult children. I am dedicated to solid verse-by-verse expository teaching. Nothing has helped me see Jesus more clearly and love Him more deeply that the faithful study and application of His Word. I also love to lead MCC’s Prayer Team, and I am thrilled when the testimonies are given of God’s answers to prayer.
I love being a Dad, and I love my wife of 30 years, Kathleen. As an Elder at MCC, I am enthusiastic about encouraging the Church to reach out to those in need. I believe the Church is the body and not building. I love to see believers grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
I have been married since 1974 to Nancy. We have three married children and six grandchildren. I served in evangelistic outreach to high school and college students as part of the Young Life staff for five years before a 35-year career selling surgical equipment and supplies. I have previously served as an elder in two San Antonio churches and on boards for two parachurch organizations. I currently serve as an EMT with Medina Volunteer Fire Department and Bandera County Emergency Medical Services.
I have been married to Heidi for more than 30 years, and I have three grown children: Ali Barton, Emmitt Klaassen, and Bethany Baker. I also have been recently blessed with two grandchildren: Jeriah and Teagan. The Church is one of the only multi-generational gatherings left in America. The church is the Body of Christ here on earth. We are a true family and all that comes with it, including grumpy old people, loud infants, and disrespectful young ones. We are learning to become one in Christ! It’s a blast!
Courtney said yes 12 years ago… and it’s been quite an adventure ever since! We’ve lived abroad, we’ve lived in the city, and now we live at a camp here in Medina. Together with our 6 kids we make up a portion of the Sanders/Cone Families who came to Medina in 2021 to serve at Deer Creek Camp. As an Elder here at MCC, I’m excited to be a part of a team that is passionate about spreading the Good News of the Gospel, see who gets excited about reaching out, and being the hands and feet of Jesus.
Church Administrator
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Dalton, for more than 50 years. He is my right-hand, and always available to help do those little emergency tasks around the church.
We have two sons, Clinton and Matthew, two wonderful daughters-in-love, Carrie and Heather, and six grown grandchildren. I was in the oil industry for a number of years, but I retired as a College English teacher.
I am also a multiple-generation preacher’s kid and have served churches my entire life in a variety of ways, from administration to Bible teaching, to piano playing, to leading worship.
I am thrilled to be able to serve MCC as the Church Administrator and be a part of what God is doing.
Director of Education
I have been married to David Rogers for 22 years, and we have 5 children. We have been a part of this church body for almost 19 years. I have been involved in many parts of children’s ministry over the years including helping with VBS, teaching children’s Sunday School, nursery coordinator, nursery volunteer and Children’s Church teacher. We love this body of Christ, and I am excited to help with the Bible and Education ministry.
Event Coordinator
I have been married to Martin since 1972 and grateful for God having put us together. We have two fabulous children, Lauren and Kevin, and a super sweet daughter-in-love, Susannah. Lauren is mom to our three Big Houston Grands and Kevin & Susannah parent our four Little Borger Grands. Seems like we are always 🎶 On the Road Again…🎶
Martin and I have owned our property in Medina since 1984, but didn’t have the pleasure of making it our home until November 2013 after Martin retired from DuPont and I from Bank of America. We knew we had found our new church home/family the first time we stepped into MCC. This is such a caring community of Christians.
I am honored to serve MCC as Event Coordinator (a nice name for all things Kitchen!). God does a lot of work around a kitchen table, and we hold a place for you.
Care
I have been married to Jack Pope for over 45 years. We have two grown sons, and two granddaughters. I worked in computing for over 40 years primarily in the oil industry in Midland and Houston, retiring in 2009. During those years I was active in the local churches. Jack’s family has owned property in Medina since 1947, so after I retired I moved to Medina full time and was soon active in the local church. I currently serve as the Deacon of Care.
Connections and Safety
Craig R. and Lisa Knight are the Deacons of Connections. Craig is also the Safety Deacon at Medina Community Church. They are passionate about Jesus and love to welcome new people, and connecting guests with others in the MCC family. They strive to know Him and make Him known AND to provide a safe place to worship for our church family. They have been members of Medina Community Church since 2012.
Facilities
Howdy, I am Jeff Bearden! I have 41 years of Industrial Construction knowledge. With that knowledge and my years as a business owner, God has given me the experience and opportunity to serve Him and our church as Deacon of Facilities. I enjoy spending time with my wonderful family, ranching, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
Worship
I am the husband of Michelle and father of Stephen and Benjamin. I have been leading worship for over 30 years and spend my days working in the technology field with a firm headquartered in San Antonio. My wife and I balance our time between San Antonio and Medina. My family and I have been associated with MCC since 2015.
We are working to resolve the issue. In the meantime, please enjoy one of our past services available on the Sermon page.
